Kindergarten Syllabus / Class Requirements

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Kindergarten!  This year will be a fun-filled learning experience for your child.  Your child will be learning through many different teaching styles.  Through different activities and strategies, we believe every child’s needs will be met.

Each week, on Monday, we will send home a kindergarten newsletter to inform you of what your child is learning that week.  It will also contain information on parties or other events in which your child will be participating.  You may also get information from each teacher’s Quia website.

Communication between a parent and teacher is vital in a child’s education; therefore, folders are sent home daily.  The folder includes homework, important note, and a behavior chart.  Please check the folders and return them daily.  A homework chart will be placed in the front of your child’s folder. Each night your child completes his/her homework he/she will receive a stamp.  After your child’s chart is filled, they will receive a ”No Homework” pass. This will be a free night with no homework!!!

We know your child is the most special person to you.  They are very special to us, too!!  To ensure that your child learns to the best of his/her ability, we have established the following rules:

1.     Use your inside voice.

2.    Stay in you seat or work area.

3.    Raise your hand to speak.

4.    Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.

5.    Follow directions.

A behavior chart is set up in our class.  If a student chooses to break a rule, he/she will change his/her stick on the behavior chart.  Each time a student breaks a rule, a different corrective actions given.  Corrective actions are as follows:

1.     Verbal Warning (several are given)- child remains on green.

2.    Thinking Chair- child moves stick to yellow.

3.    Lose Free Time (5 minutes off recess/centers)- child moves stick to red.

Children are always rewarded for good behavior!!!  Each child begins the day with a fresh start.  Rewards include verbal praise, pencils, erasers, prize box, etc.  Please praise your child at home for a job well done.  Together, we are going to have a great year!

God Bless!
